Mt Ida Foals
Mt Ida Miniatures take great pride in breeding quality foals from some of New Zealand's oldest American bloodlines and combining them with unrelated American imported stallions.
We run our foals in large paddocks so they naturally have room to run and romp with their peers and build a natural stamina for any discipline that is required of them in later life. Daily visits to these foals encourage them to accept people through a natural inquisitiveness and rewarded with a good old scratch.
Our foals are regularly handled and are halter trained prior to weaning. We take care to train them to accept the handling of their hooves and legs while they are young as we believe that to work with them while they are young makes life easier for the future.
With having Appaloosa, Overo, Splash, Dilute and Solid coloured
Stallions our foals are often a variety of patterns and colours.
Occasionally foals are offered for sale, but generally we run them through
their first winter and offer them for sale as yearlings or older.
